Lenten Devotions
Monday, February 11
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult… “Be still, and know that I am God!”
Psalm 46
Okay, five minutes. You can set a timer if you’d like. I promise, just five minutes. Take five minutes from this day and find a quiet place. Sit still, feel the breath move in and out of your body. Know that the Spirit of the Living God is within you, bringing you life just as surely as that oxygen that moves in and out of you. Let the jumble of thoughts and desires and anxieties go and simply pray, “Here I am, Lord.” Then, wait. Be still, and know that you are God’s.
