The Presbyterian Church
The word Presbyterian is simply the transliteration of the Greek word presbuteros. Presbuteros means “elder” and refers to the leaders of the church. We believe that God alone is Lord of the conscience, and therefore we consider the rights of private judgment, in all matters that respect religion, as universal and unalienable.
Essential Tenets of Our Reformed Faith
- We believe in God who is Father (Creator), Son (Savior), and Holy Spirit (Sustainer).
- We believe God’s Word became human in Jesus Christ.
- We believe Scripture is the final authority for salvation and the life of faith.
- We believe God is Lord over every aspect of life and creation.
- We believe stewardship requires proper use of the resources God has entrusted to our care.
- We believe that the sin of idolatry results when we place anything or anyone higher than God.
- We believe God calls us to transform society by working for justice and living obediently.
