Agora: PART 2 Un-Othering the Other: How to Be with Someone Different
Sun., Jan. 14, 9:45am, Lounge
Have you felt the tug to join in ministry at Hoge, CATCH Court, or COMPASS, but wonder what you'd have to offer, or what you'd even say to people so different from yourself? We often believe our ability to serve the poor requires us to learn more about poverty, but really, our ability to serve others requires first that we learn more about ourselves. Join us as we explore ideas of contemplative action, learn to know ourselves in a way that helps us be more fully present to those we serve, and to get out of our own way as we seek the Kingdom of God among “the least of these.”
Last week we were reminded to see beauty in places we never thought to look. Sometimes seeing beauty means looking into the faces of those who are different from ourselves and sometimes it means looking for the beauty in our own wounds. Join us in exploring and creating spiritual practices, full of presence and lacking in judgement, that help us enter into these places of beauty, in ourselves and in others.
