Covenant Children’s Center

Covenant Children’s Center is implementing Ohio Dept. of Health mandates for childcare programs and other best practices to reduce the risk of infection in the Covenant community.  Class sizes are reduced, and staff members are required to wear masks. Additionally, preschoolers and children in K-5th grade will be required to wear masks when indoors, except when eating. Kindergarten Enrichment and SAFES classes (for children K – 5th grade) will begin August 19th.  Preschool classes and CDO (Children’s Day Out) sessions will begin September 8th.

You want your children to become their best and truest selves.  They need be engaged in learning. They need opportunities to practice compassion and patience. They need support in some areas and challenges in others. As your child's primary caregiver, you need time to take care of yourself, to work and to get things done.  The purpose and mission of Covenant Children's Center is to care for and nurture children and families in our community.

Kindergarten Enrichment Program Description

Children in the Kindergarten Enrichment program apply and practice skills they learn in Kindergarten in authentic ways that allow them to explore concepts in greater depth.  Our approach to learning is playful and project-based.  Teachers support children as they work on group and individual projects that arise from their own interests.  Children explore art, design, music, movement, drama, geography, science, math, engineering and social studies, and are exposed to a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction children’s literature.  Children eat lunch with an enrichment teacher at Covenant at the end of the morning and then travel to afternoon Kindergarten at their elementary schools, are picked up by their parents, or continue at Covenant in the PM SAFES class.

K – 5th Grade Enrollment Choices for the 2020 – 2021 School Year

School Away From Elementary School (SAFES) Program Description

Students signed up for SAFES classes are required to bring their remote learning devices and assignments to Covenant.  Our teachers will provide children with as much instructional support as possible as well as opportunities for exploration of individual interests, outdoor time, and quiet time.  Students must be enrolled in the UA Online Academy or the School Based pathway with UA Schools. Students bring their own snacks and a packed lunch if they will be eating lunch at Covenant.

AM SAFES Class 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Full-Time (5 mornings a week)

Part-Time (based on the Hybrid 3/2, 2/3 schedule of their assigned UA Schools Group; or if enrolled in the UA Academy based on a match with another part-time student) Unfortunately, because we are limited to smaller class sizes, we may only be able to enroll students part time unless we can match a student from Group 1 with a student from Group 2 from the same elementary school or in the UA Online Academy. That means we may not have spots for all those who would like to enroll part time. If you choose to enroll part time and we do not have a match for you, you will be contacted and asked if you would like to be placed on a waiting list or moved to full time spot until a match is found for you.

More detailed information about CDO and Preschool Classes will be available soon.

Closure Information and Tuition Payment Requirements for All Children’s Center Classes

Tuition Payment Requirements and Closure Information

Tuition refunds will not be given, and families will be required to continue their regular monthly tuition payments throughout periods of closure during the school year in order for their children to remain enrolled in the programs and return to Covenant after the periods of closure end. This applies to periods of time when the Ohio Dept. of Health directs all or some of Covenant's classrooms close for a period of time. It also applies to temporary closures that may occur if Covenant staff becomes ill and there are not enough healthy staff members to substitute in the classrooms.

Please contact childcenter@covenantpcusa.org to request an application form.
